Solar thermal collectors turn sunlight into heat to produce the hot water for your home. It is a simple and sustainable way to reduce your energy consumption.
How does it work?
A heat-transfer fluid circulates through the collectors on the roof. Heated by the sun, it passes its heat to the water in the tank through a heat exchanger. The hot water is then stored, ready for use.
Solar thermal or photovoltaics?
Solar thermal heats water, photovoltaics produce electricity. For domestic hot water, solar thermal turns the sun’s energy directly into heat.
And when there is no sun?
The collectors preheat the water even on cloudy days. When needed, the heat pump or boiler tops up automatically, so you always have hot water.
